The postholder(s) will be full-time Consultant Physician with responsibility for Neurorehabilitation and general rehabilitation at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This represents a unique opportunity for a new team of consultants to take rehabilitation medicine at NUH in a new and exciting direction. We need forward-thinking consultants who can move forwards with these plans, and shape the future of rehabilitation medicine in Nottingham, the surrounding area and nationwide. ![]() We also have plans to develop intensive rehabilitation pathways for medical and surgical patients stepping down from long Critical Care stays. We have approval in principle for a hyperacute rehabilitation unit, with the aim being to deliver early, goal-directed rehabilitation to patients transitioning from our Major Trauma Centre. Our rehabilitation strategy includes our ambitions to deliver on the NRC project, whilst also sustaining and developing rehabilitation medicine services delivered on the NUH site. Planning for the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) is in its advanced stages, and there is a wonderful opportunity for a new consultant to join our team to support, shape and drive service improvements. This is a very exciting time to become involved in rehabilitation medicine in the East Midlands. We are looking to appoint a substantive consultant to lead the development of rehabilitation services across NUH sites. It will be located on the Stanford Hall Rehabilitation Estate between Nottingham and Loughborough, 400m away from the new Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC), and will benefit from sharing facilities with the DMRC. Plans for the NRC are currently going through the approvals process with a target of treating patients by the end of 2024.Īt the NRC, research, innovation, education and training will be fully integrated with clinical practice. This means that it will be uniquely placed to pioneer international research into clinical rehabilitation and rehabilitation products and technologies, and attract experts in the field. The NRC Clinical and Academic Partnership (NCAP), led by the University of Nottingham and Loughborough University, will deliver this activity. The NCAP brings together a ‘hub and spoke’ network of more than 20 universities across the country so that hundreds of educators and researchers can work with and learn from each other, co-ordinating the overall approach to rehabilitation research.Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Rehabilitation medicine at Nottingham University NHS Trust.
